IKEDA WINE CASTLE

Hokkaido’s Premier Winery Wedding
The official name is Ikeda Town Grape and Wine Research Institute, but its resemblance to a medieval European castle earned it the nickname “Wine Castle,” a name beloved by many. In the underground cellar, French oak barrels and precious old vintages rest quietly. On the first floor, visitors can shop for Tokachi Wine and local specialties from Ikeda Town, while the fourth floor features a restaurant — making Wine Castle a delightful destination filled with charm and flavor.

A Restaurant Overlooking Ikeda Town
Enjoy dishes crafted with the finest local ingredients, including Ikeda Beef, Donald Salmon, and Kurobuta Pork — along with seasonal delights from Tokachi and across Hokkaido. Relax with a glass of wine and savor the flavors of the region, all while taking in the gently unfolding scenery of Ikeda Town.

The unique grape variety, “Kiyomi”
Ikeda Town enjoys abundant sunshine and significant temperature differences between day and night during the grape ripening season in autumn. These ideal conditions create a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity in the grapes. This environment led to the development of grape varieties suited to cold climates and the creation of Ikeda’s original red wine grape, “Kiyomi.”
